Zithromax is an antibiotic that is used to fight bacterias that are infecting the body. Zithromax usually is prescribed to treat several types of different infections that are caused by bacteria. Examples of these infections are skin infections, sexually transmitted diseases, respiratory infections and ear infections. Zithromax can also be prescribed for children to be used to treat pneumonia, strep throat and tonsillitis.
Zithromax can interact with several different medications both over the counter and prescribed. You need to inform your physician of any medications you are currently taking or just stopped taking. This includes cold medicines, allergy medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.
You should avoid taking any kind of stomach medicine such as antacids. Avoid anything that has aluminum in it as this can lower the effectiveness of the Zithrom. You should also avoid sunlight both artificial and natural as it too will lower the effectiveness of the Zithrom.
